Wistia is great for hosting marketing videos but expensive to host training videos. Vimeo is an ideal hosting service for course videos, training videos, and overall video storage for media that isn’t needed for marketing purposes.
This tutorial will walk you through the process of swapping out Wistia videos for Vimeo videos on the RALAcademy Membership Site.
Sign in to the RALAcademy Wistia account.
On the Membership site, locate the video you want to move from Wistia to Vimeo and right click on it. If you successfully signed into Wistia you will see an option for “Open video in Wistia” and clicking that will bring up the account page in Wistia.
Download the Uncompressed version of the video (this is the original quality video that was uploaded).
Returning to the Download option (the three dots) this time select the Thumbnail tab and download the thumbnail to the video.
Upload the video to Vimeo in the proper location. For our example we’re uploading the video to:
Drag and drop the video onto the browser and it will begin to upload. This can take a while depending on the size of the video. The Bootcamp video is 4.8GB so it will take about 30 minutes to upload on a fast connection.
If you accidentally upload to the wrong folder, look for the Move folder option and proceed to move it to the proper location.
Click the Share button to reveal the Privacy settings and configure the video to Unlisted unless otherwise instructed.
Click the Appearance icon to reveal the embed settings and set the embed preset to RALAcademy and click Save.
Upload the thumbnail previously downloaded from Wistia. After the thumbnail is uploaded you will need to click on that thumbnail to select it.
Locate the page where the video appears. In this instance we visit the following page:

It is located:
Click the Edit Section.
Delete the option.
Click the / and type Vimeo and select the Vimeo Embed option.
Back in Vimeo, copy the link in the Share options and paste it in the Vimeo embed field and press Embed.
Press Save.
Be sure to check your work by visiting the live page and verifying the Vimeo video is what’s now displaying on the page.
It is important that the videos are organized correctly (so they can be found) and that they are named in such a way that they can be found via search.

Please do your best to name the videos in a consistent and communicative format.
