Using AI to Create Quality Articles
Step 1
Create Transcript of Source Material
Whether it’s turning a webinar into an article or a podcast episode, you’ll need the full transcript. You can use any number of apps to do this. MacWhisper is one app that can be downloaded to a Mac and generate an accurate transcript.
Step 2
Provide Initial Prompt to AI
AI doesn’t do a great job of simply converting a transcript into an equally valuable article. It tends to make the article dramatically less comprehensive and unnecessarily short.
In order to generate a truly valuable article we will approach AI in steps rather than ultimatums.
Our first prompt will be to ask AI to tell us what it needs to be successful.
I recently held a webinar titled "Why Are there White Marks On My Mule?" and I have the completed transcript for the event. What I need help with is organizing the content from the transcript into an article. I would like to provide you with the full transcript and then ask you to complete subsequent tasks to help me format and organize the content into a comprehensive article. Before I provide you with the transcript which is approximately 58,000 words, do you have any questions about my request or what will be expected of you?
Step 3
Answer the Questions from AI
AI will reply with clarifying questions and this is your opportunity to help setup the expectations. Do not just answer AI, but provide thoughtful answers which provide direction in addition to information. See screenshots for the type of questions you can expect as well as how you can model your replies.
There may be multiple prompts that you go back and forth with AI over. Whenever AI asks a question or for direction or for your opinion, the more comprehensive you can be in your response, the better.
Follow the prompts to the point where AI asks for the transcript.
Step 4
Provide the Transcript to AI
Once AI tells you it’s ready for the transcript and it appears that it has an understanding of what you want, you can provide the transcript and AI should proceed to suggest an article outline.
It shouldn’t, but if for some reason AI goes straight to producing an article you’ll want to immediately tell it, “We’re not ready for the entire article. We just want a draft of your suggested outline.”
Step 5
Review the Outline Provided
Whatever AI outputs as the suggested outline, you will want to review it all for several criteria.
- Does the content suggested in the draft align with the content within the transcript?
- There is a potential the AI did not understand / comprehend the transcript completely. If you notice that the outline contains sections or headings that feel off-topic, you may need to point those sections out to AI, tell AI what it is meant to be about, and then ask AI to incorporate this new understanding into a revised draft.
- Does the content seem comprehensive, meaning, does it appear that there are gaps in the article that did not exist in the trnascript?
- Does the content order make sense for the article?
- Potential exists for AI to order the content based upon the order of the transcript conversation. In order to ensure that the order is a best fit for the article, you need to 1) review the order yourself and evaluate the order and 2) you can ask AI if the order is the best fit for the article. Here is one way to word that prompt:
- This doesn’t feel quite right / This looks good… before we proceed, I want to ask you to verify that the order you’re suggesting for the article outline is the best order for the article, too. My primary motivation for asking you to evaluate and verify is because the possibility exists that the order discussed in the transcript is not the best most optimized order for the article.
- Modify this prompt based upon your particular use case.

Even if the initial order looks great there is a good chance that even still asking AI to evaluate the order will produce a stronger outline. See the screenshot shared.
Step 6
Proceed to Write the First Section
You do not want AI to go after the article in its entirety right away. You want to address each section one by one. Why? Keeping AI focused on one particular section at a time will prevent it from missing things either by allowing each prompt and output to be narrow in focus and by reviewing each output and then challenging AI to refine and improve upon it’s work.
Here is a prompt you can use:
I think this revised order looks better. Yes, I want you to proceed, but I only want to proceed with the first section of the article. We'll address each section, one by one.
